Activities
Our safe and secure gardens offer a variety of experiences for all age groups of children. The all-weather safety surfacing allows the opportunity for your child to use the garden every day. The nature garden gives children the opportunity to enjoy planting and growing activities, and to increase their knowledge of birds, animals and insects. The bird feeders encourage a variety of species of birds into the garden and squirrels are a common sight in the trees surrounding the nursery.
We also have a mud kitchen in our middle garden giving the children the opportunity to explore their natural environment. We have recently had a sheltered outdoor literacy unit built with various literacy experiences allowing the children to engage in activities outdoors as well as indoors.
Our Spanish teacher visits once a week to our 3-5 room. She teaches the children Spanish through games, songs and stories making it a fun introduction to a new language for your child. The children thoroughly enjoy these sessions and are always keen to participate.
The Sports Development teacher visits the Meadow Room once a week and the children have the opportunity to take part in fun sport activities to encourage health and physical development. The children really enjoy these sessions and look forward to them regularly.
We feel that nursery outings are an important way for children to learn about the world around them and the children go on local outings to the park, library, museum etc. on a regular basis. With the help of parents we are also able to take the children to places further afield like Calderglen Country Park, Balloch Country Park and the Transport Museum.
